Man dies after being pulled from pond in southwest Fresno, officials say

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A man has died after being pulled from a pond at the Regional Sports Complex in southwest Fresno.

The Fresno Fire Department says a witness reported a man going into the water around 8 pm Thursday at Jensen and West, but never saw him come back up.

Fresno Police, Fresno Fire and rescue dive teams all helped in the search for the man.

The fire department says he was pulled from the bottom of the pond about 40 to 50 minutes after his initial sighting.

Local emergency crews are reminding the public about the dangers of jumping into bodies of water as temperatures outside heat up.

The man has not been identified.
